For private clients, a bronze commission can be deeply personal. A much-loved pet, a family story, a favourite place, a meaningful object, or a sculptural garden feature can all become the starting point for something truly original.
How the process works
1. Share your ideas
Send us a short description of what you would like to create. Include the purpose, setting, rough size and any reference images, sketches or inspiration you already have.
2. We explore the direction
Rich and the team will look at what you have sent over and talk through what may be possible. At this stage, we can help refine the creative route and advise on scale, detail, finish and practical considerations.
3. We shape the commission
Once the direction is clearer, we can prepare a quotation based on the complexity of the piece, the amount of sculpting required, the casting process, the finish, and the timescale.
4. The piece enters The Foundry
Your commission then moves into the hands of The Foundry team, where it is brought to life through a process that has changed little in centuries. Each piece is cast in bronze by hand and worked carefully through every stage, from the first mould to the final patina, until it leaves the studio as a finished sculpture.

Boxing Gloves
A client came to us wanting to have some bronze boxing gloves made as a gift for his friend, who is a boxer. He brought a few ideas about the style and pose he wanted, and we did the rest! He also wanted us to inscribe her name somewhere on the piece. To get it perfect, we used real boxing gloves to position and take a mould of.
Gardening Lady
A client came to us wanting a gift for his wife to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. He wanted the piece to resemble her and her favourite hobby, but in an abstract style rather than a highly detailed, full portrait. This project was a beautiful combination of digital design and traditional hand sculpting.
Sphere
A 2D artist came to us with a concept she wanted to bring to life in bronze. She had an original painting she had done and wanted to see it transformed into a sculpture. She had very specific requirements for the piece and was closely involved in the 3D design process. This piece was entirely 3D designed.
Woman Hole Covers
Two artists came to us with an idea for a public commission, wanting to create real, working, usable ‘womanhole’ covers for a new development in Chelsea. They brought their own drawings and ideas, and played a major role in both the 3D design and the final finishing of the bronze. This piece was 3D designed.

Ongoing Pieces
Lion
This is a returning client who wanted to recreate a life-sized lion from a childhood photograph. It is based on a stone lion that used to sit outside his house, which he has fond memories of climbing and playing on. Despite having only that single photo to work from, the project is now well underway and being 3D-designed.
Hotel Bench
This is for a commercial client we have recently started working with, who specialises in high-end furniture and home furnishings. They provided high-spec drawings and details of exactly what they wanted, and we have been supplying samples of different textures and patina finishes. The final piece is destined for the lobby of a luxury hotel in central London and is currently being 3D-designed.
Sausage the Sausage Dog
This is a returning client from our boxing gloves project. They were so pleased with the quality of their last piece that they now want their living dachshund, Sausage, cast in bronze. They have provided measurements and photos for us to work from, and this piece is currently being 3D-designed.
About The Lost Foundry
The Lost Foundry specialises in fine art bronze casting using the traditional lost wax method – a process that has carried sculpture through millennia of artistic history.
The work is physical, precise and reliant on expert judgment – where fine details must survive the mould, weld lines must vanish, and colour must feel intentional. Texture, weight and finish all align to serve the final sculpture.
